Awarded to an ombudsman who:
is a strong and caring advocate for long-term care residents;
maintains a balanced approach in fulfilling all ombudsman responsibilities;
is exemplified by excellent performance of all or most of the program components;
is exceptionally professional in handling his or her ombudsman duties.
Additional factors considered:
appreciative feedback from residents, families or others regarding his or her work;
data indicating performance on all program components;
exercise of sound judgment in case handling and other ombudsman duties.
